The Bullshit We Tell Ourselves As Women

My name is CeCe. I’m a Podcast host, mother and wife. Welcome to the Bullshit Bewilders Blog.

Birthdays seem to arrive quicker and quicker. Waking up to a new year on earth seems to bewilder me more and more. I’m contemplating my next year….my next move. What bullshit will I be fed or even worse…I feed myself?

First, I will look in the mirror and bullshit myself that I look the same way I looked in my 20’s. Then I will weigh myself and believe I’m only a few pounds bigger than in my 30’s. I may see a new blemish and bullshit myself that if it’s not immediately removed, EVERYONE will notice and my persona will be diminished.

Bullshit comes in all shapes and sizes and from most people we meet. Strangers see me and say, “You’re so beautiful.” Are they being nice and just feeding me bullshit?

The biggest bullshit can arrive in a marriage or significant other relationship. He/she says, “I love you, just for you.” Is this bullshit? Piled up in my mind is all the bullshit I’ve fed myself that I’m not good enough. Compliments don’t come easy when bullshit clouds reason. Some days I just want to hide under the sheets and be left alone.

We live in a world where image is everything. Isn’t that bullshit? The mirror lies to us every morning and every night that, “You’re not good enough.” We always try to keep up with what everyone else thinks. Their thoughts bullshit what we think. What’s acceptable? What’s cool? What’s beautiful? How am I supposed to look and feel at whatever age I am? What’s in? What’s not? There’s a lot of bullshit be thrown around.

The picture above reflects a birthday celebration for understanding the bullshit you’ve fed yourself. Congratulations for embracing your inner truth. By knowing what’s bullshit and what’s not, you’re on your way to being a master of your own best life. Kudos to you!

Please join me on my Podcast “Bullshit Bewilders Brains” with my co-host Esteban, airing on Podbean. Among other things, we will be debunking bullshit that women deal with every day. I’m looking forward to an interesting conversation that we as women can discuss and find solutions together.
